ST LUCY Model School recently marked graduation and prize giving day amid fanfare; thus bringing the 2021/ 2022 academic session to an end and being the first since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The ceremony, which was the first since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, kick started with a Eucharist celebration held at St Anthony’s Catholic Church, Ifite Awka.
Thereafter the graduands, ranging from nursery, primary and secondary, clad in their colourful graduation gowns, processed to the school’s field with a thrill of Kizz Daniel’s ‘Buga’ song.
Parents and visitors were treated to colourful renditions as the pupils gave their speech presentation, balle dance, choreography, among others. The secondary students displayed their skills in fashion designing, artworks, soap making, among others.
Highlights of the event included the lightening of the candles by the graduands, launching of the Santa Lucia Newsletter and academic awards to outstanding pupils.
Miss Peace Onyechege, a primary six pupil, carted the prize for the 1st position in her class and overall prize for the best performance in primary. She was also awarded the overall best in the 2022 Quiz and speech competition in Anambra State, organised by Nigeria Television Authority (NTA).
