FORMER Deputy National Chairman of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, has called on National Chairman of PDP, Iyorchia Ayu to honour his promise and resign in the best interest of the party.

George made the call during a press conference in Lagos, yesterday.

Reminding Ayu that he vowed to resign once the presidential candidate emerges from the North, George said only this will compel aggrieved PDP members to sheath their swords and embrace peace ahead the party’s agenda for a successful outing in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

George also used the medium to appeal to Rivers State Governor, Nyesome Wike, to let go of whatever he has against the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and work to ensure that the party wins the next presidential election.

“He won’t join APC because we all know his perception about the ruling party. But in a democracy, we must talk, exchange ideas. We must agree and disagree without actually being disagreeable. Any organisation with human beings will always have issues, but the ability to manage that crisis will be the determining factor. I want to appeal to all sides to sheathe their swords. Nigerians are waiting for us and we must convince them that we can manage the resources of the country in an equitable manner. They should all cease fire. Statements of arrogance and innuendos that can destroy the party should stop forthwith,” he said.

George further explained that the founding fathers of the PDP had to bury their differences and come together for the benefit of the people.
