THE Anambra State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a young woman for allegedly stabbing a man to death in Onitsha, Anambra State.
The incident occurred in Inland Town area of Onitsha, Onitsha North Local Government Area of Anambra State, when the woman stabbed her victim who was simply identified as Ikechukwu to death with kitchen knife, yesterday.
A resident of the neighbourhood said Ikechukwu met his untimely death right inside his house when he burst onto his wife and his assailant having affair in his matrimonial bed, unknown to him that his ,whom he married three years ago is a lesbian.
The source further said Ikechukwu eventually died of injuries he sustained from repeated stabs before he could be rushed to the hospital while the suspect, who fled was arrested by Police.
According to the source, the man’s assailant is notorious for engaging in lesbianism with many girls and young women in the area. Her victim, Ikechukwu was staff of a health school in a neighbouring town.
Recounting that the victim crossed his assailant’s path in 2019 when he got married to his wife not knowing she was having an affair with the suspect, the source spoke of neighbours’ frustration over the tragedy.
“Wonders shall never end. I don’t really know where this world is heading to again. That handsome man was every woman’s dream because of how handsome he was. He gave me their wedding invitation in 2019 and I attended the wedding. But rather than being left to enjoy marital bliss, one woman continued to pester him over her stupid sexual relationship with his wife. Now, look at how this useless woman ended his youthful life.”
Confirming her arrest, Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Anambra Police Command, Ikenga Tochukwu, said Commissioner of Police, Echeng Echeng has ordered immediate transfer of the case to State CID for a proper investigation.
“We have a suspect in custody, and the Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Echeng has ordered immediate transfer of the case to State CID for a proper investigation. Preliminary information shows that the suspect stabbed the victim on the chest. He was rushed to the hospital before he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty. What brought about the suspect’s action has not been ascertained; meanwhile investigation has just begun,” he said.
In another development, Lagos State Police Command said it arrested a 35-year-old man, Kamalideen Raji, for allegedly killing a lottery manager in Badagry by stabbing his victim twice in his neck over a disagreement about an unpaid debt.
Also, a 500-level student of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, whose name was given as Modestus Hyacinth Egbulefu has hanged himself after taking hard drugs suspected to be mkpulumiri.
Neighbours say Egbulefu took his own life by jumping from the three-story building in which he lived with other students, after which leftovers of mkpulumiri were found on his lifeless body that lay on the spot.
