…Govt mulls capacity training for tourism sector managers
NEW transition council chairmen of the 21 local government areas in Anambra State have been inaugurated.
Those inaugurated were Chibueze Ofobuike for Aguata, Dr. Anselm Onuora for Anambra East, Felix Ikechi for Anambra West, Gerald Ozo for Anaocha and Emmanuel Ucheze for Awka North.
Others include ThankGod Aniago for Awka South, Livinus Onyenwe for Ayamelum, Augustine Nonyelum for Dunukofia, James Obi for Ekwusigo and Mr. Chuks Igboanua for Idemili North, as well as Mrs. Immaculata Obi, Clems Aguiyi and Kingsley Obi for Idemili South, Njikoka and Ihiala respectively.
Nnewi North has Mbazuluike Iloka while Nnewi South has Ikenna Aniagbaoso, as well as Charles Ozoma, Emeka Orji and Ogochukwu Ekwueme for Onitsha North, Onitsha South and Orumba North respectively.
Others are Sunday Uchendu for Orumba South, Emmanuel Nweke for Oyi and Paschal Aniegbuna for Ogbaru.
Their inauguration took place following their screening and confirmation by the state legislature, recently.
Speaking shortly after swearing-in the new council chairmen during a brief ceremony in Government House, Awka, Tuesday Gov. Chukwuma Soludo charged them to always bear in mind that public service is the greatest platform to make greatest difference and impact.
According to the governor, the new council chairmen should also not forget that many people in their respective local government areas look up to them for effective service delivery.
The governor also warned that there will be no room for dereliction of duty, adding that their appointment has welcomed them into his solution team and hub of the administration’s agenda for disruptive change in all sectors.
Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, Deputy Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Dr. Paschal Agbodike, Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Solo Chukwulobelu, Chief of Staff to the Governor, among others, were present in the ceremony.
In another development, as part of effort to standardise service delivery in the state tourism sector, government is giving finishing touches on modality for capacity training of management and staff operating in hospitality industry and entertainment centres.
Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, Don Onyenji disclosed this while receiving a culture and entertainment advocacy group to his office in Chief Jerome Udoji Secretariat, Awka, on Tuesday.
