Youth devp: Anambra woos skills’trainers for support

IN A bid to effectively implement its youth engagement agenda, Anambra State  Government plans to partner master trainers in various skills acquisition to coach youths in their chosen areas of interest.

  The master trainers, drawn from all the local government councils are to coach youths in no fewer than 18 skill/entrepreneurial engagement under the “Anambra State Apprenticeship Program.”

  The skills include: Fashion Design, Aluminum Fabrication, Metal Fabrication, Livestock Production, Catering, Confectioneries, Solar Installation, Leather Works, ICT, Hair Dressing,  Beauty Care, Cinematography and Automobile Repairs.

  Speaking during a meeting with master trainers at Onitsha North Local Government Secretariat, Commissioner for   Youth Development, Mr Patrick Agha Mba, said government would work with willing reputable firms to deliver its mandate.

  He explained that the present administration was interested to engage master trainers who would key into government philosophy of being part of solution providers to evolve a sustainable economic hub.

  While commending them for contributing their quota in building entrepreneurs, he assured them that under his watch, government would appreciate their effort in developing human capitals in line with its agenda of creating 130,000 jobs annually.

  He described the youth empowerment program as unique, geared towards bringing  the training down to the grassroots, which was a departure from the old older of concentrating the exercise at the state capital.

  The commissioner, then, urged them to offer their services to the trainees with high sense of responsibility, warning that erring trainees must be disciplined accordingly.

  Some of the master trainers, including Ernest Okeke,  Kenneth Okonkwo, Ijeoma Udeonu and Chika Mbanefo, pledged their commitment to key into the initiative and assured to offer quality coaching to the prospective trainees.
