Oyo Deputy Governor impeached

DEPUTY Governor of Oyo State, Rauf Olaniyan, has been impeached by members of Oyo State House of Assembly.

  Although the legislators said they his impeachment followed an allegation of misconduct and other malfeasance that was levelled against him, sources say Olaniyan’s impeachment was triggered by his defection to opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

  Meanwhile, Oyo State House of Assembly has approved the nomination of Bayo Lawal as new Deputy Governor

  The approval is coming few hours after the legislators removed Rauf Olaniyan from the post.

  Lawal’s nomination was earlier sent to the legislators by Gov. Seyi Makinde.
