Goods Worth Millions Destroyed As Fire Guts Bodija Market In Ibadan - Goods Worth Millions Destroyed As Fire Guts Bodija Market In Ibadan -  THE National Population Commission (NPC) has announced the starting of field  work for trial population and housing census in seven towns of Idemili South LGA , Anambra State.

  Chairman, National Population Commission, Nasir Isa Kwarra, recently  made the announcement in Awka during  a press briefing on the commission’s preparations for the exercise which is being conducted from 27th June to 30th July 2022 .

  According to Mr Kwarra, who spoke through the Federal Commissioner of the commission in Anambra State, Mr Chidi Ezeoke, expressed   that the conduct of the trial census was aimed at logistics arrangement and management, questionnaire design and format, training procedures, fieldwork operations, publicity, payment system, data processing, data tabulations and analysis.

  Ezeoke, further explained that the trial census will only be conducted in selected areas, one local government area will be fully covered in one state in each of the six geo -political zones and one supervisory area in three  LGAs in each of the three senatorial districts in the remaining 30 states and the FCT.

The seven towns  of Idemili South LGA where the trial census is being  conducted include  Ojoto, Akwu-Ukwu, Oba, Alor, Nnokwa, Nnobi and Awka-Etiti .

  He also stated that the objective of the exercise is to assess the quality of the enumeration area EA maps that had been created, determine the feasibility of uploading EA maps on the census app for house numbering, determine the correlation between EAD estimated population, determine the possible demographic, as well as geographic changes that might occur in EAs carved between 2016/2018 and their implications for census taking.

  In total, 7,718 EAs have been selected for the trial census to test run suitability and readiness for the actual census in 2023. 

He also canvassed support and cooperation from the residents and stakeholders  for the successful conduct of the  trial census

  The event had in attendance, the State Director  NPC, Dr. Joachim Okwchukwu Ulasi,  Deputy Director, Census Department from Ogun State and the state coordinator, Trial Census Activities in Anambra State, Folami Muka, among others.
