LATE Ma Catherine Nwaolili Ifekandu, mother of the President of Umuota, Obosi, Chief Uju Ifekandu Akunne Ugoeju and CEO Ezenwa Lands and Property, Chief Egbunike Ifekandu Ezenwa Ugoeju has been laid to rest amid  tributes.

It was pomp and pageantry at her late husband’s compound, Umuota Village, Obosi, as the family, friends and well wishers from all walks of life thronged to commiserate with the family members of the matriarch who died at the  age of 77.

According to Uju Ifekandu, ” God knows the best why our mother did not reach 80 years of celebrating (Ogbueshi). Mama was a peace maker, known for hospitality. She catered for my schooling until I decided to stop.

Also, Ezenwa Ifekandu described her mother as a disciplinarian who taught her children hard work and respect for elders.” She trained me and made me know my left from right as I grew up to become responsible”.

“Every youth not educated and employed should learn a skill or business. Youths should avoid get-rich-quick syndrome. Today people gave me over 12 cows because I have influenced their lives positively,” said Ezenwa Ifekandu.

Moreso, Mama’s daughter in-law, Mrs. Chioma Egbunike Ifekandu described the deceased as one who does not hide her feelings nor bear grudges.

The trio of Ogechukwu Obi, CEO Mobest Properties Ltd, Daniel Udeani, Ezeani Achalla and President General, Oraukwu, Chief Shedrach Onwuasoanya in their separate speeches, commiserated with the bereaved family, praying God to give them fortitude to bear their loss.

Earlier in a homily, Rev Canon Friday Okonkwo of All Saints Church, Obosi, admonished the living to consider the consequences of their actions on earth and remember that there is life after death.
