REGENT of Oba, Prince Noel Ezenwa has assured National Population Commission (NPC) of maximum cooperation from residents of Oba community as the commission administer Oath of Secrecy on 1277 Trial Census workers in Anambra.
The assurance was given at Oba during the official flagging off and opening ceremony of the training of enumerators and supervisors for the Trial Population and Housing Census (PHC) in the seven towns in Idemili South.
Prince Ezenwa, who spoke through Chief Ben Chibueze while breaking the kolanut prayed for God’s protection and guidance throughout the trial census exercise.
” Oba people is known for hospitality. This exercise will be hitch free because the residents of Oba community have been duly informed about the census. We are privileged to be fully selected out of the 21 LGAs in Anambra State and the entire South East,” said Ezenwa.
The Oba Patriotic Union (OPU) President General, Rev. Chris Emelie, represented by OPU Treasurer, Mr Uche Obukaifedi, after commending the commission for their selfless services, said, “Oba is a blessed community. We have different dishes like Edeugbo- Cocoayam, ukolo-fish and IfedinaOba-Raffia palm. We also urge Oba people to serve our enumerators with any of our delicacies as they visit,” he said.
Flagging off the exercise, Federal Commissioner Representing Anambra State in the NPC, Mr. Chid iEzeoke tasked the trainees to conduct themselves properly during the exercise as patriotic citizens of Nigeria.
“You are now on national service. It is a selfless service. This trial census will help us prepare for the actual PHC come 2023. Be diligent with your task no matter the size of the remuneration. Never disclose any information to unauthorised places or persons.
“You are free to quit this training or exercise now before the oath of secrecy is administered or else you will be liable should you commit any form of misconduct after today,” said Ezeoke.
Highlight of the occasion, which held at Merchant of Light School, Oba, was the administration of Oath of Secrecy by Magistrate Genevieve Osakwe on about 1277 enumerators and supervisors on training for the 2022 trial PHC.
The Anambra State NPC State Director, Chief Joachim Ulasi, flanked by the Anambra State Trial Census Coordinator, Mr Muka Folami and the Public Relations Officer, Mrs Rose Nweke, assured the trainees of providing every needed assistance for a successful trial PHC exercise.
