ASHIA to de-list erring hospitals
EXECUTIVE Secretary, Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA) Simeon Onyemaechi recently held an interactive meeting with the Managing Directors of various ASHIA accredited healthcare providers in the state.
Dr. Onyemaechi during the meeting, held in Awka, stressed on the need for the managing directors to monitor the activities of the desk officers in their facilities to curtail the complaints the agency receives from their enrollees.
He disclosed that the agency has some facilities that derailed their reputation by overcharging their enrollees for the drugs already capitated for over the years, warning that measures have been put in place to checkmate the activities of hospitals with unwholesome characters, adding that they will de-list any erring hospital henceforth.
Onyemaechi noted that the issue of out-of-stock syndrome is another area that must be worked on, as he will continue to have series of meetings with the hospitals involved, to find a permanent solution to the issue, and urged the hospital managers to train and retrain their staff members on ASHIA operational guidelines.
He informed the participants that ASHIA is currently working towards owning its own pharmacies in selected facilities where their enrollees could go and collect their prescribed drugs, as the measure will help not to overcharge their enrollees for drugs that have already been capitated for.
