PROF Chukwuma Soludo during his inaugural speech on March 17, 2022, said that his administration would do everything humanly possible to end every form of criminality in the state.

The governor read the riot act to politicians whose stock in trade was to play politics with security , warning that with the coming in of his administration, they would be riding on a tiger doing so, especially on account of the increasing killings in the state.

Immediately, he swung into action as he had a meeting with all the security chiefs in the state, including the military, Civil Defence, Navy, NAPTIP, among others,   to analyse security situations of the state.

Setting the ball rolling in a collaborative effort with the government is the police force as it has been on its toes fighting crimes. Since the governor’s assumption of office, the state police command has been giving massive support in combating crime and expunging criminality.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DPO IkengaTochukwu, the government has been very supportive operationally in terms of providing logistics.

Another strong area which the governor has delivered on his promise in tackling insecurity in the state is in advocacy. He has succeeded in letting ndiAnambra know the need for them to have a safer society.

The governor has been applauded by both the security agencies and the people on a security measure he took by placing a curfew on eight local government areas. This body language, among others,  show how supportive the government is to the security architecture in addressing security concern. Also, the launch of campaigns like operation know your neighbor is a plus.

Communities are coming out now to provide information on criminals as the security agents have been creating awareness to the people on the need to kill the “conspiracy of silence ” and the government gave a boost to it by adding its own voice. The success of it is being felt in the state now.

Recently, the state government used  a kind of reward approach where persons with useful information about criminals are given to the police and returns are given through cash rewards. This approach has been very useful to the police force.

On its stand to make the state a safe haven for residence and economic activities, the governor recently demolished the house of a known kidnapper as a way to discourage criminals operating in the state.

The governor had met with the various market heads in the state to address the issue of the alleged sit-at-home observed on Mondays.

Worthy of note is the governor’s unflinching support in assisting victims of insecurity in the state.
