Omasi monarch, others canvass for voter registration

TRADITIONAL ruler of Omasi, Igwe Benjamin Okeji has urged all eligible electorate in his community, Omasi, to ensure that they procure their permanent voters card to participate in the 2023 general elections.

  Igwe Okeji, who spoke to the press in Awka on the efficacy of the permanent voter cards (PVCs), noted that it is only through the ballot box that people can exercise their franchise and effect the desired change in the leadership of the country.

  The royal father endorsed the presidential ambition of former Governor Peter of Anambra State, who is the flagbearer of the Labour Party as the best candidate vying for the competitive position, and whose capabilities can positively revamp the decadent Nigerian policy and economic disaster.

  He expressed delight that many Nigerians are voicing out their support for Mr. Obi, whose antecedents are noteworthy.

  On his part,  the Anambra North Senatorial flag bearer for the Young Progressive Party (YPP), High Chief Igwebuike Okoye, who is from Umumbo, Ayamelum LGA, encouraged the electorate in his constituency, especially Ayamelum to come out en masse to get their PVCs in the two designated points of collection at Anaku and Ifite Ogwari.

 High Chief Igwebuike expects the electorate in the South East Geopolitical Zone and beyond to vote for a presidential candidate of the South East extraction which zone the next president of the country logically should come from.

  According to him, if he wins as senator, he will focus on agriculture, access roads to farmlands and facilitating the building of silos for the preservation of farm products.

  In a similar development, a former chairman, Anambra State Chapter of the Nigerian Bar Association, Emmanuel Okechukwu Junior urged the Nigerian electorate to endeavour to get their PVCs to effect the change which Nigerians desire.

  Okechukwu Junior, a lawyer, maintained that Nigerians should respect the nation’s zoning arrangement by supporting a president of the Southeast extraction.

  He expressed belief that former Governor Peter Obi has the capacity and capabilities to make a positive change in Nigeria.

  In the same vein, an Awka based legal expert, Sir Fidelis Anyanegbu noted that every right thinking electorate in Nigeria should arm himself or herself with their PVCs to participate effectively in the 2023 general elections, while a former chancellor of Awka Diocese, Very Rev Professor John Paul Nzomiwu, urged all electorates, especially those in the South East Geopolitical Zone extraction to get their PVCs to enthrone credible leaders in the 2023 general elections.

  Also, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) flag bearer for Nnewi North House of Assembly, Peter Nwosu has called on the people of Nnewi living outside the constituency to transfer their permanent voter cards, urging those in the constituency who lost their cards or have not registered to do so immediately to enable them vote during the 2023 general elections.

  Comrade Nwosu,  who made this call  while speaking with newsmen in  Nnewi, said  that majority of  people  registered and got their voter cards outside their areas, a situation he said, is negatively affecting the voting strength of his people.

   The former SSA explained that permanent voter cards remain the only instrument eligible voters will use to vote competent and capable persons into various positions of authority and called for all hands to be on deck to ensure that all eligible voters get their permanent voter cards.

  Comrade Nwosu urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure that all eligible voting Nigerians get their voter cards and appealed to election umpire to deploy more machines and manpower to the wards that deserve such, to ease the sufferings of Nigerians.

  He further appealed to Nigerians, especially the youths to vote for competence and merit in the 2023 general elections to ensure that this nation does not collapse.

Nwosu maintained that through an alliance with INEC, he has attracted additional registration center in Nnewi North.

  The APGA frag bearer cautioned politicians who are vying for one political post or the other in next year’s elections, to always play by the rules and regulations guiding electoral process.
