42 structures razed by fire in Bauchi varsity

NO fewer than 42 shops located within premises of Student Centre area of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, were razed during a fire outbreak, yesterday.

  The Block “D” shops that were destroyed are located behind female hostels on Yelwa Campus of the institution where many occupants operate computer stores and showrooms, business centres, barbing salons, as well as provision and general goods stores.

  Owners said goods worth millions of naira were destroyed during the disaster.

  Although an eyewitness said the inferno started when fire broke out from one of the shops due to an electrical fault, there has been no official reason from the school authorities.
