Umeadi wins APGA presidential ticket
…PDP cancels Ebonyi primaries
FORMER Chief Judge of Anambra State, Prof. Peter Umeadi, has won All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)’s presidential primary election.
Justice Umeadi’s victory was affirmed by 150 APGA delegates who voted for him unopposed in a special convention of the party held in Abuja, yesterday.
Promising to secure votes that would transform the county in the 2023 presidential general election, while giving his acceptance speech, Umeadi called on Nigerians to respect the ballot.
It will be recalled that Umeadi was the sole presidential aspirant of APGA.
In another development, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has cancelled the party’s primaries in Ebonyi State.
A letter sent by the party to Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), yesterday, by PDP’s National Chairman, Iyiocha Ayu and National Secretary, Sam Anyanwu said the elections were cancelled because they violated the guidelines of the party.
According to the letter, a new date for the elections will be announced soon.
