2023: Court declares Jonathan fit to run for presidency

A FEDERAL High Court sitting in Yenagoa presided by Justice Isa Hamma Dashen, today, ruled that former President Goodluck Jonathan is eligible to contest the 2023 presidential election.

  Justic Dashen also held that Jonathan’s right to vie for the office of president again cannot be stopped by any retroactive law.

Jonathan is yet to openly declare his intention to run for Nigeria president after losing a reelection bid to President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.

  The former president is one many in whose names presidential nomination forms of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was purchased.

  It will be recalled that Jonathan’s media aide said the former president was not aware of the form, Jonathan has neither confirmed or refuted claims of his membership of APC.
