Super Eagles friendly: Osimhen left out Mexico, Ecuador friendlies

NAPOLI striker, Victor Osimhen has asked national team handlers to excuse him from the friendly games against Ecuador and Mexico, sources close to the NFF have revealed.

  The former Lille attacker, dubbed arguably the best player in the current Super Eagles fold and one of the best in Europe was not on the list, courting a reaction from fans of the senior national team.

  With a substantive coach or Technical Adviser yet to be announced, the Chief Coach Salisu Yusuf and his assistants, Usman Abdallah, Finidi George and Ike Shorunmu drew up a list of players for the games.

  Nine forwards were called up for the games including Sadiq Umar, Cyriel Dessers, Emmanuel Dennis, Enyimba’s Victor Mbaoma and Rivers’ Ishaq Rafiu, Kelechi Iheanacho, Samuel Chukwueze, Ademola Lookman, Ahmed Musa and Moses Simon.

  Also missing from the squad is Taiwo Awoniyi who has been impressive in the Bundesliga where he has scored 13 goals.

  Goalkeepers: Maduka Okoye (Sparta Rotterdam, The Netherlands); Adewale Adeyinka (Akwa United); Ojo Olorunleke (Enyimba FC).

  Defenders: Olaoluwa Aina (Torino FC, Italy); Abdullahi Shehu (AC Omonia, Cyprus); Zaidu Sanusi (FC Porto, Portugal); William Ekong (Watford FC, England); Leon Balogun (Glasgow Rangers, Scotland); Isa Ali (Remo Stars); Chidozie Awaziem (Antalanyaspor FC, Turkey); Oluwasemilogo Ajayi (West Bromwich Albion, England); Calvin Bassey (Glasgow Rangers, Scotland); Ibrahim Buhari (Plateau United)
