The Catholic faithful all over the world have marked the commemoration of Jesus Triumphant into Jerusalem also known as Palm Sunday.
This is the entrance of Christ into Jerusalem, when palm branches were placed in his path before his arrest on Holy Thursday and his crucifixion on Good Friday.
It also marks the beginning of Holy Week, the final week of Lent.During the Holy Mass at Bishop A.K Obiefuna Retreat and Pastoral Centre Okpuno, Awka, members of the chapel were seen in their numbers with palm fronds to mark this feast. In his sermon, the chaplain of the church, Rev Fr. Maximus Mmuojeke reminded Christians of being soldiers of Christ and urged them to emulate and maintain the way of Christ, even as they pray fervently for Anambra State, all the South Eastern States and Nigeria at Large.”We shall conquer in the battle of this life.
This is the commemoration of God’s victory into Jerusalem. Not just mare commemoration but reenactment as if it were happening for the first time today. Today is the Palm Sunday which enables us to join Christ in this battle of his death and resurrection in Jerusalem. He entered like a King but sacrificed his life as a slave”, he said.
