Marriage Enrichment Circle marks Valentine’s Day in style

IT WAS all joy and celebration galore when couples under the aegis of Marriage Enrichment Circle celebrated love in a most memorable way at St Thomas Aquinas Parish, G.R.A. Awka, on Valentine day.

  The celebration kicked off with a Holy Mass, celebrated by Rev. Fr. Prof. Emmanuel Umezinwa, in which the couples renewed their marital vows.

  During the homily, Fr. Umezinwa enjoined all to practice love in whatever they do, think or say. “This love”, according to him, “should not just be filial but agape love.

  The fact that someone is not likeable or difficult is not an excuse for not showing them love”.

  He stressed that the new commandment of God commands us to love our neighbours as He himself loves us. He further stated that authentic Christian love consists in extending love to all and sundry irrespective of whether we think they deserve it or not or whether they appreciate or reciprocate it.” By so doing, we show that we are indeed Christians”.

  Highlights of the event include a banquet, interactive session on marriage, family and parenting, facilitated by Prof. Zita Obi; and a beautiful duet performance by one of the couples.

  Marriage Enrichment Circle is an association of married couples who desire to make a difference by cherishing, living and propagating God’s plan for marriage, family and human life.
