We’re not disbursing $750m COVID-19 grant – Osinbajo

VICE President Yemi Osinbajo has warned that Nigeria is not disbursing $750 million or any amount to the people as part of a COVID-19 recovery initiative.

  Osinbajo issued the warning while debunking a message circulating on WhatsApp that the country is ‘sharing’ the amount currently.

  Describing the message that has also been shared to groups with tens of thousands of members in the country as fake news, Osinbajo asked Nigerians to disregard it.

  It will be recalled that the message, which also includes a link where people can supposedly apply for the grant, was trending on several outlets yesterday.

  “Hurry now and check if you are eligible to receive 33,000 support from VP Yemi Osinbajo $750 million COVID-19 recovery initiative. This grant is available to all Nigerians,” the message reads.
