Mother, children, others crushed by tanker in Delta

 THE ancient city of Agbor, Delta State, was on Tuesday, thrown into mourning following a multiple road accident involving a tanker laden with fuel and other commercial vehicles along old Benin/Asaba Road, in which a mother, her two children and others were crushed to death.

An eye witness account stated that the incident happened when a tanker laden with petroleum product lost control as it was ascending the Orogodo River and rolled back near the Traffic Light Junction. In the process, the vehicle crushed four vehicles, motorcycles and other passengers.

“The woman and her children were on a motorcycle returning from school when they were crushed by the vehicles”. At the time of filling this report, the identities of the victims were not known but our source stated that their relatives speak Ika.

“The tanker driver could not be located after the accident as it created heavy gridlock as the motor bike gut strutted under the tanker with some victims”.

Confirming the accident, Ibrahim Abubakar of the Federal Road Safety Corps,  decried the lack of maintaining of vehicles and urged motorists to observe traffic code.
