Anambra swears-in Igwegbe as new Head of Service

GOVERNOR Willie Obiano of Anambra State has sworn- in Mrs Theodora Igwegbe as the new Head of Service (HOS)

  Governor Obiano while performing the swearing-in ceremony at the EXCO Chambers, Government House, Awka, charged the new number one civil servant to flush out ghost workers from the system.

  Mrs Theodora Igwegbe took over from Mr Harry Udu, who retired from service on January 1, this year.

  Reflecting on the significance of the event, Governor Willie Obiano noted that the day was a special day because the head of administration of the government and bureaucracy of Anambra State is being made substantive.

  He noted that she was no other person but a very disciplined, highly professional lady, who from her citation has distinguished herself and has been an outstanding example of what a decent woman should be.

  Governor Obiano, who said that Mrs Igwegbe had been prepared for the work after being trained and came out in flying colours, charged Mrs  Igwegbe to hit the ground running, reminding her that “as Head of Service, one of the greatest challenges before her is to fish out ghost workers”.

  The governor promised the new HOS of his support on the issue of discipline, transfer and promotions.

  The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Anambra State, Mrs Uju Nwogu said that she had a big responsibility in ensuring that there is no vacuum in the civil service.

  In her remarks after the swearing-in, the new Head of Service, Mrs Theodora Igwegbe thanked the governor for the appointment, adding that “His Excellency is a gender-friendly governor for believing in her.

  The new HOS while calling for encouragement from government, stressed the need for training and retraining of civil servants for better service delivery.
