Anambra leaders expect good governance from Soludo

FORMER National officer of the Ohaneze Ndigbo for Anambra State and former Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Uli Campus, Philip Atanmo is optimistic that governor-elect for Anambra State Professor Chukwuma Soludo will use his wealth of experience to galvanise an inclusive government of like minds to move the state to the next level.

   Professor Atanmo, who spoke from his Ogidi country home expects the former Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN) Governor to anchor part of his vision in revamping schools in the state, turning around the state economy to enhance the revenue profile of the state, fixing dilapidated roads in the state and creating jobs for the unemployed.

   The university don described Soludo’s victory at the poll as a manifestation of God’s hand in the affairs of the state which require thanksgiving from all right thinking Anambra indigenes.

   In a similar reaction, the Dean, Faculty of Education, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka Campus, and one time Chairman, Anambra State Education Commission, Nkechi Ikediugwu urged the governor – elect to carefully select his team, avoid sycophants, and inconsequential elements whose actions may derail his vision for the state.

 Professor Ikediugwu commended the people of Ihiala Local Government Area, for  voting en-masse for Professor Soludo and urged the governor-elect on assumption of office, to address the rehabilitation of bad roads in the council area.

  On his part, an All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA) chieftain from Adazi Nnukwu and one time state Chairman, Nigeria society of Engineers, Cyril Anetoh expressed joy over the wisdom of the Anambra electorates for voting widely for him.

   Anaeto, a knight of St. John International, Awka Commandry conveyed his conviction that Soludo will re-launch the state to the next level as well as rehabilitate some bad roads in the state.

   The traditional ruler of Okpuno and Deputy Chairman, Anambra State Council of Traditional Rulers, Igwe Sunday Okafor commended Governor Willie Obiano for supporting the candidature of Professor Soludo and expressed confidence that the governor – elect will address the myriads of challenges facing the state.

   His Umuawulu counterpart, Igwe Joel Egwuonwu expressed delight in the highest number of electoral votes given to the All Progressives Grand Alliance Party by the Awka South Local Government Area during the election while the traditional ruler of Omasi and Chairman, Ayamelum Local Government Area Traditional Rulers’ Council, Igwe Benjamin Okeji urged Professor Soludo to govern without fear or favour to justify the mandate given to him by the Anambra electorate.

  A frontline politician and industrialist from Achina in his reaction commended INEC for effectively using the bimodal voter accreditation system machine to drive the electoral process and suggested that the failure recorded in using the device be corrected for use in future elections in the country.

   Others who expressed their support for Professor Soludo include the state Head of Service, Harry Udu, the Chairman, Anambra Sate Basic Education Board, Chief Patrick Ugboaja, some state members of the Nigerian Medical Association, Dr. Peter Ogbuka and Dr. Cliff Okafor.
