UNIZIK to host 2022 ACCE conference

NNAMDI Azikiwe University(UNIZIK), Awka, has secured the hosting rights of the 23rd International Conference and Annual General Meeting of African Council for Communication Education (ACCE).

   Disclosing this to the media in Awka, the Head of Department, Mass communication, Prof Chinwe Uzochukwu in a press statement said the event takes place in October, 2022, with the hosting right given to the department.

   According to the statement, the event is an annual exercise jointly held with the Annual General Meeting  where stakeholders and experts converge for cross fertilisation of ideas on issues of national interest.

  The theme of the event is “Communicating Science, Technology and Innovation in Times of Economic Distress, terror and a global pandemic; while its pre-conference research workshop focuses as: Mainstreaming Child rights into the unbundled Communication programmes of Nigerian Universities -Prospects and challenges.”

 Source says the conference would critically examine the effect of different branches of communication, including, advertising, broadcasting, films, new media among others in proffering remedial measures to the challenges of improving Nigeria and other African countries development.

 “The conference is primed to explore the place of science, technology and innovations including the emerging ones such as genomic, biotechnology, synthetic biology, Nano technology and artificial intelligence and robotic; towards remedying Nigeria’s Health, security, environmental and economic crisis. ” The statement read in part.

  Report says, ACCE is the biggest professional body that brings together communication stakeholders from different media outfits as well as scholars from distinct institutions of learning locally and across the continent.
