WIFE of the governor of Anambra State and founder of Caring Family Enhancement Initiative (CAFE), Dr (Mrs) Ebelechukwu Obiano, has pledged to continue to support the vulnerable through her NGO.

Meeting with representatives from Idemili North and South Local Government Areas in Awka, Mrs Obiano said that her NGO, through her annual empowerment programme and training empowered people across communities, some of whom started their own businesses to reduce poverty.

She noted that since her husband became governor in 2014, the poverty rate which was 54 per cent had reduced drastically to the lowest and Anambra remained the safest state in the country as she had toured the 181 communities over the past seven years.

Mrs Obiano stressed that the state would not go back to ‘the dark ages’ while believing that the wife of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for the Nov. 6 poll, Mrs Nonye Soludo would take

her legacies to greater heights.

Transition Committee Chairman, Idemili North LGA, Mr Raphael Asha Nnabuife, in his remarks said: “CAFE has done well by reducing poverty and improving governance”.

The Special Adviser to the Governor Obiano  on Chieftaincy/Town Union Matters, Mrs Vera Queen Okonkwo described Mrs Obiano as an epitome of kindness, knowledge, and wisdom, who had given women equal opportunity to serve.

“She has touched the lives of the less privileged; empowered women and the young people in several trades with equipment,” she stressed.
