CIVIL Society Committee for Anti-Fraud Election Security [CISCAES], in collaboration with the Nigerian Union of Journalists(NUJ), Anambra State Council, recently launched 2021 Anambra Guber-Poll Anti-Fraud Situation Room at Western Meloch Hotel, Ifite, Awka, Anambra State with the theme ” Enforcing a Peace and Credible Electoral Process”.

The chairman of the group, Dr. Nwachukwu Anakwueze, via zoom meeting, during the workshop, gave a warning to everyone stating, ”we want free and fair election that will prove that we are the Light of the Nation. Anambra is not for sale, it is not a state for motor park tout governors, and the electorate must interrogate the candidates to know who is who because some of them do not have good record.

Dr Anakwueze also said that,” people who cannot win elections legally in their own states must not be allowed to impose governor on ndi Anambra. Anambra is a great state for great people like Ekwueme, Obi, Zik, Akunyili, Ojukwu, among others. November 6 is another opportunity for us to come out and vote for the right person,” he said.

President of the world Igbo Congress, who also participated via zoom, Prof Anthony Ejiofor, said ,” there is fire on the mountain. We must be cautious not to allow Anambra to be destroyed. There is plan to mortgage the aspirations of the people in the coming election. If we allow Anambra to fall to their caprices, the South East is gone”.

Former Minister of Women Affairs, Josephine Aneni, said that every Nigerian, irrespective of nationality, should be concerned about what is happening in Anambra State. She said, ”we must not allow our state and country to be plugged into eternal darkness. Anambra is under siege. The intention is to drive away voters; so that on the day of election, there will be voter apathy, and they will write results…”

President of Anambra Associations in Germany and Europe, Joseph Ebelechukwu, said that Diaspora citizens were not happy over the happenings in Anambra. ” We’re aware of the developments in Anambra and we are not happy. The information reaching us is that Anambra election is done and dusted, and the winner already known. We are going to organise a protest that one has not witnessed before if Anambra election failed to reflect the aspirations of the people.

Convener of the meeting, Comrade Kennedy Iyere, said the objective of the meeting was for all hands to be on deck in building an egalitarian society. The group intends to create a situation room, which, he said, would help monitor the happenings across the state, with a view to working out solutions.

Vice President, NUJ Zone C, Emmanuel Ifesinachi said: “This is the first time such event [situation room] is happing in Anambra State and around South East.
