Sit-at-home records partial compliance in Anambra

Published

THE suspended sit-at-home order by Indigenous People of Biafra (IPoB) recorded partial compliance in Nnewi, Awka and Onitsha as well as neighboring towns.

Although banks and some shops were shut down, there was free movement of vehicles with people seen around markets and neighbourhoods.

As of 10 am, markets in Onitsha, Nnewi and Awka were empty as only a few traders had come to the market but more people opened for business by mid-day.

A resident of Awka, who identified himself as Philip Uche, said he had to come for business when he learnt that IPOB had suspended the order they issued.

It will be recalled that IPOB, through its Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, had two days ago, called off the sit-at-home order following wide consultations.
