OSUN State residents are still counting losses, as a downpour on Tuesday evening resulted in a flood, which wreaked havoc in Osogbo and its environs.
Damages were done by flood at the Government House, Ibu-Amon bridge, Jetu stream, Oke-Onitea stream, Rasco area via Old garage and Oke-Baale, Powerline, Testing Ground, Obate and Awesin in Erin-Osun.
A resident, Olawuyi Adeleke, said three people died in Oke-Onitea and Okejetu when they attempted to wade through the flood on Tuesday night. One of the victims was said to be a motorcyclist, while another unidentified man was swept away. A landlord reportedly died in the flood at Awesin.
Another resident of Okejetu, Bolaji, said four people escaped from the flood on Tuesday night, while a man riding a motorcycle was swept with other four persons away.
About 25 metres of the perimeter fence of the Osun State Government House was destroyed as a result of the downpour. Lamco junction and Oke-Fai en route to the Government House were blocked by security operatives to divert cars from the area so that a temporary perimeter fence can be built.
At Powerline, the rail track was affected, as flood swept away the sand beneath the track.
