Soludo represents quintessential Igbo spirit – Adinuba
FORMER Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, represents the Igbo Spirit because of his determination to succeed despite all odds.
A statement issued yesterday in Awka by Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, C. Don Adinuba, on behalf of Gov. Willie Obiano to felicitate with Soludo on his 61st birthday, said he achieved so much despite losing his mother at a tender age of eight years – apart from having a father who was a low wage earning driver in a local company.
“This is a typical Igbo story: a determination to not only succeed but also excel in different endeavours,” the statement reads in part.
Adinuba also stated that Gov. Obiano had quintessentially captured Soludo’s odyssey in the governor’s remarks at his Aguleri residence during a brief but impressive birthday ceremony for Soludo which had in attendance Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Uche Okafor, Soludo’s running mate on the APGA platform in the forthcoming November 6 Anambra gubernatorial election, Dr. Onyeka Ibezim among others.
Adinuba quoted Gov. Obiano as saying that “on account of sheer brilliance, hard work and God’s grace, Soludo became Nigeria’s most successful and revolutionary CBN governor, having become a full economics professor at 38 and author of several books, articles and conference papers” across the globe.
Adinuba further credited the governor with having praised Soludo for being passionately committed to the Anambra cause and demonstrated same with “for hiring a number of Anambra persons as CBN employees and consultants purely on merit.”
In his response, Soludo thanked Chief Obiano for making Anambra about the most competitive state in the country.
