ANAMBRA State Signage and Advertisement Agency (ANSAA), has cautioned all political parties to ensure prompt payment of all statutory advertorial levies before displaying their political posters.

ANSAA gave this warning ahead of the Nov. 6 governorship elections in Anambra State.

Managing director of the agency, Sir Jude Emecheta stressed in an interview that any candidate of a political party, who failed to comply with the advertorial rules would risk a court action.

Sir Emecheta, who was reacting to the issues related to advertisement explained that only Prof. Chukwuma Soludo made a bulk payment of N29 million for his advertorials.

He said that the amount includes mounting of political billboards, use of branded vehicles, caps and tops.

According to him, billboards, posters, branded vehicles, flyers, T-shirts and related materials are expected to attract payments from the parties or candidates as approved by the law establishing the agency.

The MD noted that it was regrettable that most of the political advertorials noticeable across the state were yet to be paid for, adding that his agency had finalised arrangements for court processes

Emecheta maintained that an aspirant of a certain party, Mr Chuma Umeoji paid only N700, 000.

He, then, called on defaulting candidates or political parties to promptly approach the agency to effect payments for their advertisements in line with the law and regulations guiding it.
