Anambra 2021: Ozigbo’s PDP faction petitions Supreme, Appeal Courts

OZIGBO faction of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under the aegis of Ozigbo for Justice Movement has petitioned the Supreme Court over alleged frustration of the appeal filed by factional gubernatorial candidate of People Democratic Party ( PDP), Valentine Ozigbo.

 A copy of the petition which was also sent to Appeal Court alleged that some judges at the state High Court had refused to give Ozigbo’s lawyers copies of their judgments.

 A chieftain of PDP in the state, Kennedy Iyere told journalists in Awka that Ozigbo could only get justice if the High Courts could intervene.

 His words, “I have confidence in both Appeal and Supreme courts in dispensing justice. Ozigbo is the authentic candidate. Let the court uphold his candidacy”.

It will be recalled that Anambra High Court in Awka had ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to publish Senator Ugochukwu Uba as the authentic candidate of PDP in the November 6 election in Anambra State.

 Ozigbo had earlier sought justice from the High Court in Awka which was upheld. It was however turned down by the recent judgment obtained by Ugochukwu Uba.

 The supporters of Ozigbo, angry with the seemingly unending litigation had urged the Appeal and Supreme Courts to redeem the image of the judiciary by doing the needful. They noted that the image of the judiciary had been badly brought down by judges who have compromised the ethics of their profession.
