Anglican cleric eulogises Obiano for Anambra airport project
AN ANGLICAN clergy in charge of the Basilica of Grace Church, Awka, Anambra State, Rev’d Christwise Onyelibe, has extolled the Governor Obiano-led administration for initiating and successfully completing the monumental Anambra International Cargo and Passenger Airport project, saying it would go a long way in ameliorating the challenges of youth unemployment in the state.
The cleric made the commendation while speaking with the press in an interview shortly after church service at the Basilica of Grace Church, Awka, on Sunday.
He said, “the most important thing is that he, who has done well should be praised. By the special grace of God, the present administration has been doing well in terms of facilities and physical structures, for example, the international airport at Umueri in Anambra East Local Government Area.
“This is no doubt, a way of empowering and engaging the youth in meaningful ventures because that airport can employ over 1,000 youths in Anambra State. So, coming up with the airport project is one of the areas the administration has thought very wisely”, he noted.
On the forthcoming Anambra gubernatorial election, he expressed belief that prayer is the key to select a governor after God’s own heart as he enjoined Christians to call upon God to take absolute control for a righteous leader to emerge at the last day.
He said, “Anambra State needs prayers now the governorship election is drawing closer. When the Christians stand up and pray earnestly, God will take control; without Him, everything we are doing is in vain. Therefore, we need God at this point in time so that a righteous person will emerge as the next governor of the state”.
The clergyman emphatically frowned at the killings by cult groups witnessed around Awka and its environs in the recent time, and advised the youth to shun cultism, which he described as darkness, that leads to eternal damnation.
While urging the youth to embrace Christ, Onyelibe passionately appealed to the church and the fellow pastors to embark on an aggressive evangelism and preach the word of God undiluted, respectively, in order to salvage the lives of the youth and empower them spiritually.
Earlier in a sermon, Onyelibe encouraged Christians to seek the grace of God all the time, stressing that it is only by the grace that a man can attain the apex of his destiny.
The service, which was themed, “the Riches of Christ’s Grace”, featured special prayers for both the political and the religious leaders in the state and the nation.
