Anambra Health Commissioner bags UNN College of Medicine’s award

ANAMBRA State Commissioner for Health, Vincent Okpala has been bestowed with an Award of Excellence for his outstanding lecture, performance and contributions in the healthcare sector.

Dr Okpala received the award during an induction and swearing-in ceremony of the Batch B Graduands of College of Medicine, University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN),.

The Provost, College of Medicine, Prof. Uchenna Nwagha said that the award became necessary because of the commissioner’s insightful lecture to the graduands and his contributions in the health sector of Anambra State.

Prof. Nwagha noted that the institution was aware of the commissioner’s good record when he was a student of the institution.

“We are very much proud of you because your appointment as a Commissioner for Health is commendable and we thank Gov. Willie Obiano for appointing you.

“Your achievements in healthcare can never go unnoticed, especially your tireless effort at helping Anambra to contain the COVID-19 pandemic.

“People here, who listened to your insightful lecture and words of advice to the graduands can agree with me that we didn’t make a mistake in choosing you to be our guest lecturer.”

Dr Okpala said the institution had produced many experts in the health sector, urging the authorities in the institution to maintain the good records of producing best medical students in Nigeria.

“I accepted to be the guest lecturer in spite of m busy schedule because I want to use the same opportunity to give back to the institution that nurtured me.”

He expressed gratitude to the management of the institution for the recognition.
