Ubuluisiuzo gets new Catholic Priest, Saturday
HISTORY would be made on Saturday, July 10, as Rev. Christian Echezona Mbaukwu of Ubuluisiuzo, Ihiala LGA, Anambra State, would be ordained a Catholic priest.
The ordination will break the 36 years of waiting by Ubuluisiuzoa to have a priest after the ordination of their first indigenous Catholic priest, the Very Rev. Fr. Samuel Muodiaju (CSSP), who was ordained in 1985.
The event, which will be officiated by the Catholic Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, Most Rev Hillary Odili Okeke, will take place at St. John Cross Parish, Egbo, Uruagu Nnewi, in Nnewi North Local Government Area.
Meanwhile, the new priest will hold his first solemn Mass of thanksgiving at St John the Baptist Church, Ubuluisiuzo, by 10 am while reception follows immediately after church service at the church premises and at the late Mr. Joseph Mbaukwu’s compound, Umudioka village, Ubuluisiuzo.
The parish priest and entire parishioners of St. John the Baptist Catholic parish, Ubuluisiuzo, in a statement signed by the Chaieman, Ordination Committee, Sir Chuka Nnabuife, Vice Chairman, Parish Council, Ichie Francis Moughalu, the parish priest, Very Rev Fr Felix Umegboro and priest in residence, Rev Fr Calistus Ekwutosi, rejoiced with the family of the late Mr. Joseph and Mrs. Regina Mbaukwu and urged Ubuluisiuzo people, their friends and well wishers to rejoice with them and support the program.
