CAFÉ not relenting on campaign against gender discrimination violence – Osodieme

WIFE of Governor of Anambra State and Founder of Caring Family Enhancement Initiative (CAFÉ), Ebelechukwu Obiano, has said she would continue with her advocacy against every form of violence against women and people in other vulnerable fringe of society.

  Dr Mrs. Obiano made the promise while speaking at the 2021 Anambra Women’s Summit in  Awka..

  The theme of this year’s occasion is ‘Fighting Gender-based Violence in a COVID-19 World’.

  According to her, she is campaigning for women through her pet project, CAFÉ, with training and empowerment of indigent women, girl child and youth to boost self-reliance.

  Osodieme also urged mothers to always monitor their children to observe bullying and promptly discourage such attitudes from them.

  In her address, Anambra State Commissioner for Social Welfare, Children and Women Affairs, Ndidi Mezue said that the fight against gender-based violence required an approach that was both liberating and self-sustaining, stressing that socio-economic emancipation remains the shortest route to ending the ugly trend.

  Governors’ wives from across Nigeria including the wife of Governor of Enugu State, Ugochi Ugwuanyi, chairperson of Southern Governors’ Wives’ Forum and Wife of Governor of Osun State, Rafayat Oyetola, wife of Oyo State governor, Olufunke Makinde, wife of the Governor of Bayelsa State, Gloria Duoye-Diri, and wife of Governor of Taraba State, Annah Darius-Ishaku, also addressed at the event.

  Members of the state executive council, legislature, transition committee chairmen and women from the 21 local government areas of Anambra State were also in attendance.
