Oye remains APGA national chairman – INEC

INDEPENDENT National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that Chief Victor Ike-Oye remains the authentic National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA.

INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, made the clarifications after a stakeholders meeting with 18 party chairmen at its headquarters in Abuja.

Explaining that intra-party feuds are not peculiar with APGA, Yakubu said INEC invited Oye because he is who the commission recognises as authentic national chairman of APGA.

“Intra-party is not peculiar to APGA alone, it is in every political party but it seems like APGA’s own is becoming very notorious now and this is one thing we have to stop and again the security agencies have a role to play in this situation. If anybody does anything that is illegal, against the law such a person should be dealt with to serve as a deterrent to other people which is the proper thing to do. But for now Oye is who we recognise as authentic APGA National Chairman, and that’s why we invited him and nobody else,” he said.

It will be recalled that in his reaction to his purported removal, Oye said the party would deal decisively with anti-party activities and insists that the actions of the splinter group are not capable of derailing its determination to retain Anambra Governorship come November 6.
