WIFE of Anambra State Governor, Ebelechukwu Obiano has reunited 12 rehabilitated mentally challenged persons to their family.

The reunion took place at the Ministry of Social Welfare, Women and Children Affairs, Anambra State.

In a speech during the event, Mrs Obiano narrated the incident that led to establishment of the Mentally Challenged Home in an old party house at Nteje, Oyi Local Government Area by the Gov. Willie Obiano administration.

The establishment was with the support of her nongovernmental organisation (NGO), Caring Family Enhancement Initiative (CAFÉ) in 2015.

Osodieme, while narrating the contributions of all the commissioners that have worked in the ministry, applauded the present commissioner, Lady Ndidi Mezue, for her dedication to duty.

Mrs Obiano disclosed that Lady Mezue personally picked up those mentally challenged from the streets and followed up until they were rehabilitated, trained in various skills and re-integrated back into the society.

The inmates who were from various states of the federation including Anambra, Imo, Ebonyi, Rivers, Ogun and Osun States, were empowered with seed money and equipment such as sewing machines, hair dryers and beads to start new life in order to be useful to themselves, families and the society.

Food items were also presented to support their reintegration process by the wife of the governor
