ASHIA tasks Anambra healthcare providers on international best practices

SPECIAL Adviser to Governor Willie Obiano on Health and Executive Secretary of Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA), Dr. Simeon Onyemaechi, says health insurance scheme remains the surest way to achieve Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

  Dr. Onyemaechi gave the opinion during a meeting with directors of ASHIA’s medical providers in Awka.

  Commending medical providers for the mutual relationship between them and ASHIA, Onyemaechi urged them to continue ensuring that the quality of service their enrollees receive remains topnotch and accords to international best practices.

Onyemaechi, therefore, warned that ASHIA will not hesitate to delist medical providers who engage in unethical conducts and sharp practices apart from other sanctions that may be meted to their establishments for breaching the terms in their agreement of service.

  According to him, all these measures are put in place to ensure that ASHIA delivered on its mandate from Gov. Willie Obiano as the state government strives to make Anambra health sector not only accessible and affordable, but also globally competitive.
