PDP destroyed Nigeria for 16 years – APC
…Buhari is a dictator – Adebanjo
A support group of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Legacy Awareness Campaign (APC-LAC), yesterday, challenged the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to present its achievements during its 16- year reign.
A statement issued by Ismail Ahmed, Lanre Issa-Onilu, Tolu Ogunlesi and Salihu Mohammed Lukman on behalf of the group to highlight achievements of President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration in Abuja, said, unlike the PDP, the APC government had succeeded in laying a solid foundation for the country in the last six years.
While conceding that criticisms and opposition are essential in a democracy, the group stressed Nigerians are not short of memory of how destructive the PDP were as managers of Nigeria.
According to them, APC is working to rebuild the country after years of neglect and destructions by laying the solid and sustainable foundation for the country’s greatness.
But Leader of Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, yesterday, said he warned Nigerians not to vote in Major General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.) as Nigeria’s President in 2015, because the Katsina-born ex-military head of state is a dictator.
Adebanjo stated this in television programme that was monitored in Awka.
According to Adebanjo, he gave the warning from Buhari’s antecedents which were at variance with democratic tenets.
“It is a very unfortunate statement from the President of a democratic country. I was very sad when I heard it. When I was informed, I thought it couldn’t be but I am not surprised. It is those of you who voted for Buhari in 2015, that should be amazed. I warned you then that this man is a dictator. He was born a feudalist. He is trained as a dictator and he has no respect for the rule of law. Let us all realise the fact that the problem of the country today against unity and peace is President Buhari. He is not on the same page as those looking for the unity and peace of this country,” Adebanjo said.
