Anambra guber poll: Umeoji picks APGA nomination form
…Expresses optimism for victory in primary, general elections
ONE of the leading gubernatorial aspirants of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the forthcoming Nov 6 poll in Anambra State, Chukwuma Umeoji, has purchased the nomination form of APGA at the National Secretariat of the party in Katampe Area of Abuja.
Umeoji, who was accompanied on the trip to the secretariat by dozens of his supporters, critical stakeholders of the party and 11 members of Anambra State House of Assembly, shortly after purchasing the form, expressed optimism for becoming the candidate of APGA for the Nov 6 poll, saying that God is on his side and as a party man, who had served the party and the people of the state in various capacities, he is sure of the support of the party faithful who will likely emerge the party delegates for the primary election.
He said, “I am already looking beyond the primary election, because by the special grace of God, Heaven has endorsed us and the entire people of Anambra State, not just the APGA faithful, are in support of our candidacy.”
While extolling the virtues of Gov Willie Obiano and the National Chairman of APGA, Victor Oye, Umeoji reaffirmed his commitment towards a better Anambra State where the rule of law will reign supreme, infrastructures provided and employment given to the jobless youth.
He stressed that his gubernatorial ambition is hinged on consolidation and continuity, noting that Gov Obiano had done well and would be leaving bogus shoes behind.
Presenting the form to Umeoji, the Deputy National Chairman of APGA, South, Chief Uchenna Okogbuo, charged him to run an issues-based campaign, disclosing that the National Working Committee of the party had resolved to conduct a free, fair and creditable primary on June 23.
Also, some of the 11 state legislators in Umeoji’s company which include Lawrence Ezeudu, expressed confidence in his ability, describing him as a team player, whose capacity had been tested and affirmed in his previous state and national assignments.
They further pleaded with the national and state leadership of the party to provide a level playground to all the aspirants under the APGA platform.
