NECO registrar, Prof Obioma is dead

REGISTRAR of the National Examination Council, (NECO), Professor Godswill Obioma has been killed by unknown gunmen.

  Source close to National Light disclosed that the assailants broke into his home on Monday night, strangling him in what his wife suspected to be an assassination.

  Weeping, Mrs Obioma said her husband had just returned to Minna from a trip to Abuja, when the armed men, lurking in his compound, descended on him and strangled him.

  “The assassins came in and killed him and left without taking anything,” Elizabeth Obioma told our source by telephone on Tuesday morning.

  Prof. Obioma, 67, was appointed head of NECO on May 14, 2020. He hailed from Abia state, South-East, Nigeria.

  The incident came a day after Ahmed Gulak, an APC chieftain was killed by gunmen in Owerri, Imo State.

  Police spokesman has not confirmed the incident at the time of filing the report.
