GOV. Willie Obiano has been commended for returning Anambra to the dreams and projections of founding fathers at the state’s inception.

A coalition of leaders of thought, elders and statesmen from Anambra State working under the aegis of Anambra State Towns (People) Association (ASTPA) gave the commendation in Abuja, yesterday.

Addressing newsmen after the inauguration of the 4th president-general of the association, chairman of the occasion, Chief Simon Okeke explained that Gov. Obiano achieved the feat by bringing back accountability, resourcefulness, innovation and entreprise in governance rather than remaining in the lethargies of some of his predecessors.

According to him, Gov. Obiano may not be perfect, just like everyone but he has continued to demonstrate prudence and commitment to public good.

“Although the governor may not be perfect, just like me, just like you, he has demonstrated more prudence in handling state resources than his contemporaries. I have seen Gov. Willie Obiano’s developmental strides and we are doubly proud of Anambra, because he has not borrowed money to fund the legacy projects he is doing in the state. Therefore, he is a shining light among his peers. His Excellency, despite being a human, has reduced mistakes and leakages to barest minimum. That is why we will always commend and recommend him for posterity as a model for the younger generation, particularly whoever becomes his successor after November 6,” he said.

Also speaking, new President-General of ASTPA, Chief Arinze Anadu described the governor as “a shining light.”

“His Excellency has been very supportive, in terms of his fatherly advice and moral support. We know of at least three legacy projects he initiated on behalf of the people, particularly the Umueri International Cargo Airport. We are sure that the other legacy projects will be completed before he leaves office next year. For us, ndi Anambra have never had it so good in the past,” Anadu said.

Chris Ngige, Minister of State (Environment), Sharon Ikeazor, Minister of FCT, Alhaji Mohammed Musa Bello and former governor of Anambra, Chief Chukwuemeka Ezeife, among other notable personalities attended.
