Zone presidency to S’East as done to West in 1999 for equity – Group
By John Ndu
A group known as the Movement for Election of Nigerian President of Igbo extraction has called for maintenance of the principle of equity by zoning the 2023 Presidency to the South East, just as it was zoned to South West in 1999.
The group appealed to religious leaders of Igbo extraction to introduce praying for the actualisation of the Nigeria President of Igbo extraction in their various places of worship.
The group said that usual and uncommon issues deserve divine intervention because only God could grant power.
National Convener of the group, Mr Vincent Ezekwueme made the remarks at the end of their 3-day fasting and prayer session to seek the face of God and His intervention toward actualising election of Nigeria President of Igbo extraction in 2023.
While addressing newsmen, Ezekwueme said for the interest of equity, social justice, egalitarianism, good conscience and morality, it would be appropriate to cede the presidency to the South East.
It was what brought about the Chief Olusegun Obasanjo Presidency of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Chief Olu Falae of AD/APP both from South West to contest the presidency in order to pacify them over the annulment of June 12 presidential election believed to have been won by Chief MKO Abiola of Social Democratic.
