Bishop Ikemefuna attributes Nigeria’s Insecurity to bad leadership

THE Vice President, West Africa Episcopal Bishops Conference, Orthodox Anglican Communion, Rt. Rev. Dr. Chidi Ikemefuna has attributed the problem of insecurity experienced in Nigeria and some other African countries to bad governance as a result failed leadership.

The prelate called on political leaders at all tiers of government to seat up to their responsibilities and provide visionary leadership that will assure the youths and other citizens of hope for a better tomorrow.

Bishop Chidi Ikemefuna made the call at Emmanuel Cathedral, Obosi, Anambra State, during the occasion of his Installation as The Vice President, West Africa Episcopal Bishops Conference, Orthodox Anglican Communion and Presiding Bishop of the newly mapped out South Eastern Province II of Nigeria.

“The insecurity situation of Nigeria today does not respect class; it affects both the rich and poor. Nobody knows when and where the next attack is happening. The signs of insecurity have been there but our leaders did not bother to nip the evil and the remote causes at the bud until it began to escalate. Youths are angry and many people are hungry”.

“Our problem is leadership. If we have good leaders beginning from the presidency, vice presidency down to governors things would not have degenerated to this level. Our youths are seeking greener pasture and dying at the deserts because of inadequate enabling environment when we have enough mineral resources to make this country an investment and tourist attraction to even people from the Western World but we have turned this country upside down due to bad leadership. If God gives us one man that will fix this country, you will see there is no country better than Nigeria”, said Bishop Ikemefuna.

Moreover, Ven. Chris Molokwu of Onitsha Archdeaconry, Ven. Tochukwu Ukpaka, the  Administrator Emmanuel Cathedral, Rev. Benedict Okonkwo and Chairman, Men’s Fellowship, Chief Johnbosco Oragui Agbalusia  in their separate speeches, thanked the President, Africa Episcopal Bishops Conference, Orthodox Anglican Communion cum Arch Bishop of Kenya ,  Most Rev. Dr. Maurice Ojoh, and Arch Bishop of Nigeria, Most Rev. Dr. Adewunmi Solomon Rotimi for gracing the occasion to install Bishop Ikemefuna.

After eulogising the achievements of Bishop Chidi Ikemefuna, who they described as very spiritual and a voice to the voiceless charged the laity to continue to trust in God for protection and pray for the security situation of Nigeria.
