AHEAD of the forthcoming Anambra governorship election slated for Nobemebr 6, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has slated continuation of voter’s registration to commence on June 28.

Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC in Anambra State, Dr. Nkwachukwu Orji, disclosed this while giving an indication that the electoral umpire has also increased polling units in Anambra from 4,608 to 5,720 during Stakeholders’ Forum on Expansion of Voter Access to Polling Units in Awka, on Monday.

According to Orji, the expansion became necessary  as the commission last expanded its polling units more than two decades ago.

“From INEC records, the existing polling units were created 25 years ago and some of them today are in locations where they no longer promote healthy electoral activities. Some of the polling units are located in front of shrines, some in private buildings and others in churches,” he said.

Explaining that INEC kicked off the process about two weeks ago, Orji said that already, additional 1,112 new polling units have been added to the existing 4,608 polling units in the state.

This, he said, was aimed at enhancing participation during elections, especially during the global pandemic.

Meanwhile, leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has prophesied that former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and frontline aspirant for All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) ticket in the forthcoming November 6 governorship election in Anambra State will not only emerge APGA’s flag bearer but will also win the general election.

Ayodele made the revelation on Tuesday, while releasing his prophesies on recent events in Nigeria and the world.

According to the prophet, only Soludo appeared more than two times in his prophetic enquiries about who, among the motley crowd  jostling for the coveted seat at Government House, Awka come March 17, 2022, would beat other aspirants.

But he also called on Soludo to gird his loins preparatory for the task ahead.

“In APGA (All Progressives Grand Alliance), it is between Charles Soludo, Chukwuma Umeoji and Akachukwu Nwankpo, but Soludo has an upper hand. He should be on alert as his emergence as the party’s candidate will cause crisis in the party. But he shouldn’t underestimate his counterparts.

Some in the party will kick against the victory of Charles Soludo. If the other aspirants can form a coalition and work very hard, they can outshine Charles Soludo in the party primaries, but he is the one that party stakeholders want,” Ayodele said.

Ayodele also used the opportunity to warn politicians, particularly the candidates, to shun thuggery, violence, destruction of properties, but rather, embrace peace and the spirit of sportsmanship before and during the contest.

“I want to urge every politician in Anambra to desist from violence, shun thuggery and destruction of properties, rather embrace peace and the spirit of sportsmanship. I see violence and killings during the primaries and the main election,” he continued.

It will be recalled that amid the uncertainties that heralded the last Edo State governorship election, Ayodele predicted that Gov. Godwin Obaseki would clinch the recent Edo State gubernatorial election for his second tenure in office.

Also, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Chief George Moghalu said that only presenting a credible candidate would give the party a strong participation in the election.
