ANAMBRA State House of Assembly has passed a bill for the establishment of the Anambra State House of Assembly Service Commission, its functions and connected purposes in readiness for legislative autonomy.

Leading a debate on the bill during a special plenary of the House, yesterday, Majority Leader of the House, Dr. Nnamdi Okafor explained that the bill would facilitate the smooth running of the state legislature.

Noting that the legislators took out time even in the event of the ongoing strike action by Legislative Staff Association of Nigeria (LSN) to consider the bill, Okafor also said the bill would help in strengthening the legislature.

Speaking after the bill was passed by a voice vote, Speaker Uche Okafor commended the lawmakers for painstakingly going through the bill and for subsequent passage.

He assured ndi Anambra that the state legislature will continue to enact laws aimed at improving the living standard of the citizenry and the peace and progress of the state.
