Anambra SEMA debunks IDP camp attack rumour
CONTRARY to rumours making the round in some quartres, there was no gun men attack on any of the 28 Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps in Anambra State.
Debunking the rumour while fielding questions from newsmen in Awka yesterday, Executive Secretary of State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) in Anambra State, Paul Odenigbo said those behind the allegation were either mischievous or deliberately peddling it to cause fear among displaced people.
According to him, neither was there any attack or killing in those refugee camps because the state government is providing round-the-clock security around the facilities even when none of them is open.
“Of all these 28 camps, none is open now. The camps are all used anytime we have cases of flooding. I am surprised to hear that people were killed in IDP camp in Anambra because as at (today April 28, 2021) none of the camps is open,” he said.
