I was surprised they let Iwobi go when they did – Kan
ARSENAL icon Nwankwo Kanu has criticized former Gunners manager Unai Emery for sanctioning the sale of Alex Iwobi to Everton in the summer of 2019. Kanu, who spent five years with the London outfit, has berated the decision of the club to sell the Nigeria international.
In a deal worth 80m euros, Arsenal signed Ivory Coast winger Nicolas Pepe from Lille, leaving them with an obligation to balance their books, hence the sale of the Nigeria international for a fee in the region of 30m pounds.
Iwobi spent fifteen years at Arsenal, rising through the ranks before making his professional debut in a League Cup match against Sheffield Wednesday in October 2015.
“I was surprised they let Alex Iwobi go when they did,” Kanu, speaking to Ladbrokes at its launch of the 5-A-Side Bet on Arsenal v Everton, said, according to Metro UK.
