The distribution of the 100 pieces of motorcycles were shared across the security agencies in the state- 30 pieces for the police, 20 pieces for the army and 50 pieces for the state owned neighborhood watch vigilantee group.
Commissioner for Internal Security, Border, Peace and Conflicts Resolutions, Stanley Okoro Emegha, who disclosed this on Wednesday, while making the presentation of the motorcycles at Old Government House Abakaliki, said the gesture was to respond to the appeal by security agencies in the state to aid the process of restoring peace in the hinterlands of Ezza-Effium/Effium commununal crisis, as well, other remote parts of the state.
According to him,”it is in fulfillment of the promise the state government made to the security agencies. You know this Effium and Ezza-Effium crisis, there are too many hinterlands that vehicles cannot access and as such, the security agencies made appeal to the governor of the state to procure some motorcycles for them. We procured 100 pieces of the motorcycles”, he said.

“For weeks now and with the deployment of the troops, the area has been calmed, and the deputy governor has been visiting there on two days basis. With me and other security chiefs and as such, we have relative peace there for now” Emegha said.
