Anambra hands N288m cheques to faith-based hospitals
IN ITS tradition of supporting and improving healthcare delivery in the state, Anambra state government has presented cheques worth, (288.5m) Two hundred and eighty eight million, five hundred thousand naira, to faith-based healthcare facilities in the state.
Governor Willie Obiano made the presentation at the Professor Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Center, Awka.
While Catholic healthcare facilities got the total sum of one hundred and ninety seven million, seven hundred and fifty thousand naira, healthcare facilities managed by the Anglican faith were presented with cheque worth sixty one million two hundred and fifty thousand naira whereas health facilities managed by the Pentecostals who were presented with cheque worth thirty million naira.
The Catholic faith has 42 recognised hospitals; Anglicans have 26, while Pentecostals have 1 recognized hospital.
According to Governor Obiano, since inception, his administration has given aid to faith – based facilities in the state to the tune of two billion, one hundred and seventy four thousand naira.
Members of the State Executive Council, Royal fathers led by South East and Anambra State Traditional Rulers’ Council Chairman, Igwe Alfred Achebe, Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Dr. Paschal Agbodike, Presidents-General, Transition Committee Chairmen, among others, attended the event.
