Rotary presents hygine items to Aquinas School, GRA, Awka

ROTARY Club of Awka G.R.A. on Monday, paid a visit to St Thomas Aquinas Nusery/Primary School, Awka

 Rtn Alex Okwuoyibo, who stated the purpose of their visit said that it was for the celebration of 2021 Hand Washing Day. They came with gift items that will help in keeping the environment neat and also for protection against COVID-19.

The staff and pupils received them with the school matching band, which added glamour to the event.

The president of the club, Rtn Izunna Somadina Okwelogu extolled the school for their cleanliness.

“We are happy to see you. There was a time we were like you. We are here to remind you that it is good to be clean. We are presenting these items, baskets, buckets, brooms, soaps, sanitisers, facemasks and so on to keep yourselves clean.”

On his part, Rtn Ken Aniemena had these to say after they sang a popular Igbo song ‘Akwukwo na-aso uso; “My sons and daughters,  l want all of you to remember this song and practice it. Your parents are rich that’s why you are here. When l look at your faces, l see future senators, governors, presidents, House of Representative members, managing directors, World Bank Directors like Okonjo Iweala. You need to work towards it. Ask questions and l pray as you have said ‘Amen’ it will be so in Jesus name.”

He continued by reminding them that COVID 19 is real, even as he admonished them to always use their face masks. He also advised them to wash their hands regularly and always wash their school uniforms, and keep their environment clean.

The Senior Prefect of the school, Edochie Esther ,on behalf of the pupils had these to say:  

“On behalf of St Thomas Aquinas Nursery/Primary School, l welcome you to our great school. Thank you for everything you brought for us. We pray that God will bless you for the motive.”

Highlight of the event is the presentation of school fees to Ezeliora Chinenye, a basic 2 pupil who is yet to pay her school fees.

The Headmistress, Mrs Ngozi Nwankwo, with heart full of joy thanked the Rotarians for their kind gesture.

The Rotarians that came for the visit were: Izunna Somadina Okwelogu (President), Amobi Adirika, Alex Okwuoyibo, Kenneth Ikechukwu Aniemena and others.
